Authors To Go

Like what you’ve seen of 2k9 Fresh Fiction? Interested in finding opportunities for students you know to connect with a 2k9 author? Most of our authors will arrange school visits through their personal websites. Or check out Authors To Go.
 
Authors To Go allows your school to invite a 2k9 Author to interact with your students during 2009. Many of our authors will participate in the program, donating time to one or more schools as a community service. Once matched, schools and authors   together   will design a program   where you receive a signed copy of the author’s book for your school library and participate in two or three activities :

1) Question and answer session hosted on our blog.
2) Online chat.
3) Exchange of letters with one of your classes.
4) Informal "meet and greet" session with author if time and proximity allows.
5) Participation in Food for Thought (see below.)  
6 Other ideas agreed upon by you and your author.

Your school’s Author To Go experience will be unique. You and your author will plan together to make it fit your needs and your author’s schedule.

To request an author from the Authors To Go program please contact us at authorstogo@classof2k9.com  with the following information:

• Your name, your affiliation with the school, and your contact information
• Your school’s name and address.
• The name of the author(s) you are interested in partnering with.
We will contact you as soon as possible. Our goal is to include many schools in the program, but spaces are limited.

Another option for your community.
Reading and owning books is fun and  it creates readers. But not everyone has the opportunity to buy new books. The Class of 2k9 wants to help communities share their love of reading by encouraging book drives. You might organize one at your school - to donate to another school or local organization - or to benefit students at your school. We want to celebrate your efforts to bring reading to everyone ! If you are part of the Authors To Go program, tell your author that you're doing a book drive. Maybe he or she can help! Looking for a school to donate books to? Let us know! We can help you find schools that would really benefit from donated books. If you complete a book drive, be sure to send us a note and maybe a photo about how it went. We may post it on our blog!
